3rd Annual Sombrero Light Regatta a big success!
see photos below

As the rain stopped and the clouds parted, 29 boats set sail for the 3rd annual Sombrero Light Regatta  at high noon on Saturday, October 20th 2007.The stakes were high for this was a rare opportunity for local sailors to prove their superior racing tactics and boathandling skills  to overcome a light wind day. It was quite an awesome sight to watch the competitors making a beeline to the lighthouse and back. The Snorkle boat  “Starfish” served as the Committee boat at the Start/Finish line.

A post – race BBQ was held at the City Marina, where chef Ed’ Silver Hawk’ Hatton cooked up some lipsmackin’ ribs and fingerlickin’ chicken for the hungry crews and spectators. Robert Bongo Jefferson and Keith and Friends  kept us swinging with their uplifting tunes, while the excitement about the day’s feats and defeats kept everyone talking.

The Boot Key Sailors Association awarded trophies in the following categories:

1st Place Multihull: Curtis Clark on “Windrider”, 1st Place Racing:Dale Kamerzel on “Ocean Spray”,2nd Place Racing: Andrea Russell on “Screaming Sirens”,1st Place Cruising:Carlo Morato on “ Odin”,2nd Place Cruising :Tom Dodomead on “First Course” ,1st Place Liveaboard:Richard on “Mariah”, 2nd Place Liveaboard :Graig Yahel on “ Hakuna Matata “, 1st Place Under 30’:Larry Sherman on “Enchantress”,2nd Place Under 30’: Christian Rioux on “Interlude”.
